How we price it

The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Cable crossover machines have two cable columns with high and low pulley positions and are used for chest, shoulder, and core exercises. The build sequence is similar to a functional trainer but with fixed cable positions rather than adjustable height carriages. The frame goes up first: base plate, uprights, and top cross-member. The uprights need to be vertical before the cross-member is tightened, for the same reason as any cable machine: the cross-member locks the upright position. The base plate bolts need to be confirmed before the uprights are stood, because the uprights carry significant lateral load from the cables and a loose base plate bolt will allow the upright to pivot. Top pulleys on a cable crossover machine bolt to the top cross-member or to brackets at the top of each upright. The pulley shaft bolt needs to be confirmed tight before the cable is routed over the pulley. A loose pulley shaft will shift under load and cause the cable to jump. Low pulleys are fitted to the base frame or to the bottom of each upright column. The low pulley position determines the cable path for low cable exercises. The cable routes from the weight stack up through the low pulley and out through the attachment point. Cable routing on each side of a crossover follows the same sequence as a functional trainer: stack sheave, idler pulleys in order, then the working pulley. Getting the routing order wrong binds the cable at the misrouted point. Weight stacks are loaded last, after all cables are confirmed routed and all pulleys are seated. Work covers South Sydney, St George, the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and the inner city. Before leaving, the assembled piece gets photographed for the record. Message us what is in the box and we will price it.
