Gym equipment assembly has safety requirements that other flat-pack categories do not. A wardrobe that is slightly out of square is a visual problem. A squat rack that is not level is a structural one. The assembly sequence for gym equipment starts with confirming the anchor and level positions before any equipment is loaded.
Power racks and functional rigs anchor to the floor on base plates. The anchor bolt positions need to be confirmed against the floor plan before drilling. Moving an anchored rack after the floor has been drilled requires filling the old anchor holes and re-drilling in the new position. Getting the position right before drilling is the only step that cannot be corrected later.
Cable machines have a weight stack that runs on guide rods inside the housing. The housing needs to be level before the cable is threaded. A housing that is not level causes the stack to contact the guide rods on the low side under load, which creates drag and wears the guide rod surface over time.
Cardio equipment — treadmills, stationary bikes, rowers — needs a confirmed power outlet position before being placed. The outlet is confirmed first, equipment placed and tested.
