How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Bar stools have more variation in assembly than any other dining item. A wooden stool with fixed legs is a short build. A height-adjustable stool with a gas-lift column, a swivel mechanism, and a footrest is a different job with several steps that need to go in the right order. Gas-lift columns need to be fully seated in the base before the seat plate goes on top. The column sits in a tapered socket in the base and is held by the taper only, not by a fastener. It needs to be pushed fully home and then struck down onto the base from the top to seat it. If the column is not fully seated, the stool will slowly sink under load over the first few uses, which looks like a fault in the gas cylinder but is usually just a column that was not fully set. Swivel mechanisms on bar stools have a bearing that sits between the seat plate and the top of the column. The bearing needs to be seated correctly in both races before the seat is attached. If one side of the bearing sits high, the seat will wobble slightly as it rotates rather than turning smoothly. Footrests on four-legged stools need to be set at the right height for the counter they are going with. Most footrest brackets allow height adjustment within a limited range. Setting the footrest before the legs are fully locked means one less step that requires loosening.
