How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Dining tables arrive in more pieces than they look in the store. The base, where it is a pedestal or trestle, assembles as its own unit before the top goes on, and the cross-stretcher that ties the legs together has to be tightened in the right sequence or the frame ends up with the twist built in. The common sign is that one corner of the top rocks slightly after the top is fitted, which is actually the frame, not the top. Extension tables have a slide mechanism in the centre of the top panel. The slide channels need to be parallel to each other and to the long axis of the table before the top halves are attached. If the channels are slightly off-parallel, the extension will feel stiff on one side when the table is pulled apart. The leaf, where included, should seat level with both halves of the table when the extension is fully open. Most slides allow a small amount of height adjustment via the bolt at the end of the channel. Solid-top tables, and tables with a glass top, have their own considerations. On glass-top designs, the retaining studs or pads need to be positioned so the glass is centred and can expand slightly with temperature. On solid timber tops, the top is often fixed with clips that allow the timber to move. Overtightening those clips can cause the top to bow or crack.
