How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Cot assembly is the one flat-pack job where following the instructions to the letter is not optional. The safety standards for infant furniture require every bolt to be torqued to the manufacturer's specification, and the drop side mechanism, where the design has one, needs to operate correctly at every point in its range of motion. A drop side that sticks or releases partially is a hazard, not just an inconvenience. The mattress base height is adjustable on most cots. The base sits on two or four support pegs on the internal side panels, and the peg positions need to be at the same row on both sides. An uneven base puts the mattress at a tilt that worsens if the mattress compresses unevenly over time. The lowest base position is used when the infant is old enough to pull themselves up; the higher position is for younger infants who cannot push against the sides. The teething rail, where the cot design includes one, clips onto the top edge of the long side rails. The clips are usually a friction fit and need to be pushed firmly until they seat. A partially seated teething rail will work loose within a few days. All bolts on an assembled cot should be re-checked after one week of use. This is not specific to flat-pack assembly; it is standard practice for infant furniture because the normal movement of the cot settles joints and can allow bolts to loosen slightly. Most inner-Sydney buildings mean carrying pieces up stairs at some point. That is factored in. Before leaving, the assembled piece gets photographed for the record.
