How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Flat-pack workbenches fall into two categories: open-leg designs with a single bench top and cross-bracing, and cabinet workbenches that combine an upper bench with lower drawer or shelf storage. Each type has a different build sequence, but both start the same way: frame before top, level before load. The frame on an open-leg workbench needs to be level and square before the bench top is bolted on. Garage floors are rarely flat, and workbench legs are usually adjustable at the foot. All four feet need to be set before the cross-braces are fitted, because the cross-braces lock the frame at whatever angle it is in. Once the bench top is on and tightened, the frame cannot be adjusted without removing the top. Cross-braces go in before any weight is applied. A workbench under load with no cross-brace will rack under the first heavy lateral push, and a racked workbench is difficult to use for any job that requires a flat surface or a vice in the same position each time. The braces are usually angled flat-bar steel that bolts between the uprights, and they need to be tightened with the frame already square, not used to pull a racked frame square. Cabinet workbenches combine a storage carcass with a bench surface. The carcass has the same sequence as any flat-pack cabinet: back panel before top, checked for square, then the bench surface locks the carcass square. Drawers and doors are fitted and adjusted last.
