How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Coat racks fall into two categories: freestanding units that rely on a weighted base, and wall-mounted rails that need to be fixed to the wall. The build approach is different for each. Freestanding coat racks usually have a central pole, a top hat rail, and a weighted or cast-iron base. The pole threads into the base and the hat rail clips or bolts to the top. The sequence is base, then pole, then hook rail, then top cap. The key detail is that the pole needs to be plumb, not just upright, before the hat hooks are fitted. A pole that is 3 degrees off plumb will drop coats from the hooks on one side because the hooks are not horizontal. Wall-mounted coat rails and panel systems need the rail or panel to be level and the fixings to match the wall type. Most coat rails have two to four fixing points along the rail. The end points carry more load than the centre, so the end fixings need to be in solid substrate, whether that is a stud, a plasterboard anchor rated for the load, or a masonry fixing. A centre-only fix will allow the rail to flex downward at the ends when loaded. Panel coat systems, which combine a rail with hooks, shelves, or a mirror, need all elements to be level with each other vertically before fixing, not just individually level. The panel is fixed first, then the hooks and shelves clip or bolt to the panel. The Eastern Suburbs, Inner West and South Sydney are well-covered, as is the inner city and City Fringe.
