How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Cube shelving systems like Kallax-style units are more structural than they look. The interlocking inserts make the unit rigid, and the sequence of inserting the horizontal and vertical dividers matters. On a 4x4 grid, for example, the inner vertical dividers slot into pre-cut positions in the top and bottom panels, and the horizontal dividers then lock in between the verticals. Getting the sequence wrong means the last divider cannot go in without forcing it. The back panel on cube shelving is often a thin cardboard or fibreboard sheet that does not look like a structural element. It is. The back panel stops the unit from leaning forward under the load of bins or baskets placed near the top. Most cube shelving back panels are a single large sheet that slots into a groove in the top, bottom, and side panels. The groove needs to be cleared of packaging material before the panel goes in, or the panel will not seat fully. Cube shelving can be positioned either horizontally or vertically on most designs. Positioned horizontally, the unit becomes a low bench. The choice needs to be made before assembly because the connector positions for the feet are different in each orientation. On some designs, the back panel fits differently depending on orientation. Fit feet to the unit before it is stood upright; the foot positions on the underside are difficult to access once the unit is on the floor.
