How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

A hallway console is usually built in the hallway, not in a larger room and then moved. The hallway is the constraint: there is rarely space to lay the carcass flat on the floor, and the wall is usually right behind the unit. The sequence adapts to the space. The carcass sides and back go together first in the vertical position, the base is fitted last, and the whole unit is checked for level and square before the top is secured. Consoles with drawers have the same runner alignment requirement as any other drawer unit. In a narrow hallway, the unit is often against a wall, and the wall limits how far the drawer can be pulled open during fitting. The runner needs to be positioned before the drawer is hung, and the drawer checked for free movement at the end of its run before the unit goes against the wall. Slim console tables, as opposed to cabinets, usually have a crossbar or apron between the legs that locks the frame square. The crossbar needs to be fitted before the top goes on. Once the top is bolted to the legs, the frame is locked at whatever angle it is in. A frame that is 3mm out of square shows up as a visible gap between the console and the wall. Inner-city apartments and terrace houses often have original timber or tiled floors that mark easily. Assembly on the floor is done on a mat.
