How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Rowing machines have a monorail that the seat slides on, a resistance unit at the front, and a handle cable or chain. The monorail level and resistance unit connection are the two build steps that need the most attention. The frame goes together first: the main monorail, the front legs, and the rear legs or foot. The monorail needs to be confirmed straight and flat before any load is placed on the seat. Most rowing machine frames arrive in sections that bolt together at a centre joint. The joint bolt needs to be at the specified torque, because a joint that moves slightly will cause the seat to bind during the stroke. The resistance unit on most rowing machines mounts to the front of the monorail. Air resistance units have a fan housing, water resistance units a tank. Both types attach to the frame at two or four bolts. The unit needs to be confirmed level relative to the monorail because the chain or cable from the handle to the resistance unit needs to be in line. A resistance unit that is rotated relative to the monorail will cause the chain or cable to pull at an angle and wear unevenly. The handle cable on a chain-drive rower threads through a guide at the front of the monorail and attaches to the handle. The cable needs to be confirmed routed correctly before the rower is used. A cable that is routed outside the guide will fray against the frame edge. Foot plates with adjustable straps need to be set before first use. The strap height determines heel position relative to the foot plate. Work comes from apartments in the inner city, terrace houses in the Inner West and houses across the Eastern Suburbs.
