Cardio equipment assembly covers treadmills, stationary bikes, spin bikes, rowing machines, and elliptical trainers. Each type has a specific sequence, but all share the same requirement: the unit needs to be in its final position before the power cable is routed and before any safety features are tested.
Treadmills are the most involved cardio assembly. The motor housing and the deck frame are separate components that join at a pivot point. The pivot bolt tension determines how much the deck flexes under running load. A pivot that is too tight restricts the deck flex; a pivot that is too loose allows the deck to flex beyond the designed range. The correct tension is specified in the instruction sheet and confirmed before the first use.
Stationary and spin bikes have a resistance knob or a magnetic resistance dial that needs to be calibrated after assembly. The calibration sets the minimum resistance so that the resistance range is consistent through its full travel. A bike whose resistance knob is not calibrated will have a dead zone at the low end of its travel.
Rowing machines fold for storage on most residential models. The fold hinge is confirmed operating correctly before handover. A hinge that is stiff when new will not improve with use.
