How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Drafting stools are taller than standard office chairs and have two components that standard chairs do not: a footring and a back bracket that is often mounted higher on the gas cylinder post than on a task chair. The footring on a drafting stool slides onto the base post and locks at a height set by a bolt or a push-pin. The right height is approximately two-thirds of the way up the post, so the ring sits under the user's feet when the stool is at full height. If the footring is set too low, it is out of reach and provides no support. Setting it before the cylinder and seat are mounted is easier because the post is vertical and unloaded. Once the seat is on and the stool is at height, adjusting the footring requires tipping the stool and re-locking it under load. The back bracket on a drafting stool is a separate piece that clamps around the gas cylinder post. It needs to be positioned at the right height before the seat mechanism is loaded onto the cylinder. Most back brackets sit above the seat level and are adjusted by loosening a clamping bolt, sliding the bracket up or down, and re-tightening. The back panel then bolts to the bracket. Getting the bracket height right before the seat is on avoids having to lift the seat to adjust it later. The gas cylinder loads into the base the same way as a standard office chair: pressed in while the base is on the floor, then the seat mechanism drops onto the top of the cylinder.
