How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Drawer units are one of the more precise builds in the flat-pack category because runner alignment affects every drawer in the unit, and the runners need to be in before the carcass is closed. The carcass goes together first: base, sides, and back panel. The back panel is what keeps the carcass square, and it needs to be fitted and confirmed square before the runners go in. A carcass that is 2mm out of square will cause the outermost runners to be at slightly different depths, and that error shows as a drawer front that sits at an angle relative to the frame. Runners on most drawer units are side-mounted. Each runner has a fixed half that screws to the inside of the carcass side panel, and a moving half that attaches to the drawer box. The fixed halves need to be at the same height on both sides of each opening. The easiest way to confirm this is to mark the height of the first runner on a piece of card and use that as a gauge for the remaining runners. Soft-close dampeners are fitted to the rear of the fixed runner half on most designs. The dampener engages the moving runner half when the drawer is within 50mm of closed and slows it to a stop. If the dampener is missing or not seated, the drawer will slam. Checking all dampeners before the unit is loaded is part of the job. Drawer fronts adjust up and down and side to side via bolts inside the drawer box. The adjustment needs to be made with all fronts fitted so the gaps between them are even.
