Office storage assembly covers filing cabinets, drawer pedestals, storage walls, and office shelving. The sequence is the same across all types: the carcass is confirmed level before any drawers, doors, or shelves are fitted. A carcass that is not level will have drawers that roll open or closed when released, because the drawer slope follows the carcass slope.
Storage walls and full-height cabinets need to be anchored before loading. The anchor attaches to a stud or a wall rail. A tall unit anchored only to plasterboard will pull away from the wall when a lower drawer is extended. The anchor position is confirmed before loading.
Drawer runners in filing cabinets and pedestal drawers need to be parallel on both sides. A runner that is not parallel to its opposite will cause the drawer to bind when extended past its midpoint. The bind point is usually where the drawer weight shifts from the cabinet frame to the runner bearing. Confirming both runners are parallel before any drawers are inserted prevents this.
Office lockers are built in runs. Each locker is levelled before the next is joined. The joining bolts between lockers pull the units together and will lock any height difference between adjacent lockers if tightened before both units are confirmed level.
