How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Filing cabinets are mostly metal flat-pack that requires precise runner alignment. The side panels, base, and top lock together before the runner rails are fitted. The runner rails on a vertical filing cabinet are the most important part of the build: they need to be at exactly the same height on both sides of each drawer opening, and the spacing between them needs to match the width of the suspension frames that carry the folders. Most filing cabinet runners use a hook-and-rail system where the suspension frame hooks over a pair of rails. The rails themselves slot into brackets on the side panels. The brackets have multiple height positions, and the right position depends on the drawer depth. Setting the rails too low means the suspension frame drags on the base of the drawer; too high and the folders cannot be read easily from above. Anti-tilt locks are a safety feature on multi-drawer cabinets. The lock is a bar or rod inside the cabinet that allows only one drawer to open at a time. On most designs, the lock is a spring-loaded bar that runs vertically inside the carcass and blocks adjacent drawers when one is open. The bar needs to be fitted and tested before the drawers are loaded with folders, because under load the test requires pulling multiple drawers to their full extension simultaneously. Drawer fronts on metal cabinets are usually fixed and do not require adjustment. The drawer stop at the rear of each runner needs to be confirmed before the drawer is loaded, because a missing stop allows the drawer to pull fully free of the cabinet under load.
