How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Hanging chairs are either a freestanding frame with a hanging point, or a chair that mounts directly to a beam or ceiling. The build approach differs between the two. For a freestanding hanging chair, the stand frame is the starting point. The frame is usually an arch or A-frame that carries the hang point at the apex. The arch needs to be level and the cross-brace at the base confirmed tight before any hanging load is applied. An arch slightly twisted will cause the chair to hang at an angle. The hang point on most freestanding frames is a hook or ring at the top of the arch. The hook or ring needs to be confirmed seated and locked before the chair is attached. A hang point that is only partially threaded or seated can pull free under a dynamic load. The chair itself usually has a metal frame with a woven fabric or rope seat. The chair frame bolt positions are pre-drilled and the bolts go in from the underside of the frame. The chair frame needs to be confirmed flat and square before the fabric is stretched over it, because the fabric tension will pull the frame toward the weaker corner if it is not square. The suspension rope or chain connects the chair to the hang point. The rope or chain length determines the height of the seat. Most suspension systems are adjustable. Confirming the seat height before loading the chair avoids adjusting it with a person sitting in it. For a ceiling or beam-mounted chair, the anchor bolt needs to be in a solid section of the beam.
