How we price it
The exact price depends on your specific model, since two items that look similar can be very different to build. The most accurate way is to send a photo of the finished item from the store website, or its model reference, when you request your quote. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so several items together in one visit is usually the best value.

Cubby houses are the most complex play structure build. The floor frame, wall panels, and roof need to go up in a specific sequence, and the floor frame needs to be level before anything else is fitted. The floor frame goes together first. The floor frame is a rectangular base of timber or steel beams. On a raised cubby, the floor frame sits on legs. The legs need to be at the same height before the floor frame is assembled on top of them. On a ground-level cubby, the floor frame sits on bearers that need to be on a flat surface. Wall panels are fitted to the floor frame after the frame is confirmed level. On a timber cubby, the wall panels are pre-cut sections that bolt or nail to the floor frame base rail. The sequence of wall panels is: rear wall, then side walls, then front wall. Fitting the rear wall first gives a reference plane for the side walls, and fitting the front wall last means there is a large opening to work through when fitting the earlier panels. The roof is the last structural component. Most cubby house roofs are a pair of angled panels that meet at a ridge. The ridge board goes on first, connecting the two roof panels at the apex. The roof panel bolt positions are pre-drilled in the wall top plates. Internal fittings such as a bench, a shelf, or a chalkboard panel are fitted after the roof is on and before the external finishing items such as the porch railing. Work comes from apartments in the inner city, terrace houses in the Inner West and houses across the Eastern Suburbs. Photos are taken when the job is done.
