Swing set and play equipment assembly requires the frame to be level and stable before any hanging or climbing components are attached. A swing set frame that is not level will cause the swings to hang at an angle, which pushes the swing to one side as it travels. A climbing frame that is not level will cause the rungs to be at angles that are uncomfortable to grip.
Swing chains are attached after the frame is confirmed level. The chain length is set so the swing seat hangs at the same height on both sides. A chain that is one link longer on one side will cause the seat to tilt. On a multi-swing set, all swings are confirmed at the same seat height before handover.
Climbing frames and monkey bar sets have a bolt sequence that must be followed. The bolt sequence on a climbing frame is determined by access: bolts that will be inaccessible after adjacent components are fitted are driven first. A bolt position that becomes inaccessible after assembly requires disassembly to reach.
Slides attach to the platform at the top and need to be confirmed secure before first use. The slide attachment point bears the full weight of a child sliding, plus any impact at the top.
