Sliding-door wardrobes have a track sequence that cannot be varied: bottom track first, top track second. The bottom track is fixed to the floor or the base panel in its planned position. The top track is then set parallel to the bottom track, not parallel to the ceiling. A ceiling that is not level will cause a top track fixed to it to be out of parallel with the bottom track.
The door gap at the top is set by the height adjustment on the top track rollers. Most sliding systems allow several millimetres of vertical adjustment at each roller. The gap at the top needs to be confirmed even across the full width of the door before the door is tested for smooth travel. An uneven gap at the top is the most common cause of a sliding door that runs smoothly at one end and catches at the other.
Mirror doors are the heaviest standard sliding door type. The centre panel carries the most load and its roller position is confirmed last, after the two outer panels are set.
