How we price it
Prices are based on the items being assembled and are returned the same day when photos are included with the quote request. A $120 minimum applies per visit, so booking several items together in one visit gives the best value.
Paddington is almost entirely terrace houses and apartment conversions, with the occasional newer block set back from the main streets. The terrace format creates a specific challenge: furniture has to move through a front door, down a long hallway, and often up a narrow staircase before it reaches the room it belongs in. Wardrobes and bed frames that ship in a single box are almost always manageable, but wide items -- corner desks, extending dining tables, or a KALLAX unit going into a tight upstairs bedroom -- are the ones worth flagging before assembly day.
The most common orders from this area are bedroom furniture and home office pieces. BILLY bookshelves and HEMNES dressers come through regularly, as do PELLO and STRANDMON chairs for reading corners. Dining tables with extendable leaves, INGATORP or EKEDALEN, are popular given the terrace floor plan where the dining room is often a distinct room rather than part of an open-plan space. Flat-pack bed frames with storage drawers arrive in many boxes and take longer than expected -- the drawer runners across all openings need to be level and parallel, or the drawers start to bind within a few weeks.
Most terrace houses in the area have good natural light and period details -- original floorboards, cornices, skirting boards -- that make installation worth taking care around. Drilling into walls means locating pipes and wires first, since terrace conversions often have services running in unexpected positions. Outdoor courtyards in the converted terrace style are smaller than a full backyard but still hold a two-seater sofa set or a small dining table and chairs without crowding.
