The living room has the most complex flat-pack in the house. Modular sofas arrive in multiple boxes and have a joining sequence that determines whether the modules sit flush. TV units with cable management have a routing order that needs to be followed before the back panel is fixed, because the cable channels are inaccessible once the back panel is on.
Bookshelves and tall storage units require wall anchoring before they are loaded with books or objects. The anchor bracket attaches to a stud. A tall unit anchored only to plasterboard will tip forward if someone pulls at the top shelf. Confirming the anchor is in a stud is part of the handover check, not an optional step.
Coffee tables, side tables, and TV benches follow the same sequence as any table: frame first, top second, adjustable feet last in the final position. On a glass top, the top goes on last and the glass clip positions are confirmed before the top is released.
Living room furniture often arrives in several deliveries. Building each piece as it arrives keeps the room functional rather than full of flat-pack boxes. The sequence within a single visit starts with the largest piece and works down to the smallest, so the floor is clear of packaging as the job progresses.
